The Junior Orchestra was established in 1976 by Liz Dunn after the success of the Symphony Orchestra, to offer opportunities for young and beginner musicians to experience playing in a large ensemble.
The orchestra rehearses weekly in preparation for joint concerts with the Symphony Orchestra and plays a wide range of music from easy classical works, to popular TV themes and original compositions by our staff.
Every year, in May, Junior Orchestra has a residential weekend away at Quorn Hall, where they learn new music and sing together in a Choir. The weekend is filled with fun musical activities which involves the children working and playing together to develop their musical skills and knowledge. They have the chance to learn new music and the weekend culminates in a performance for family and friends.
